Our Ornament Punch is a wonderful punch to use at Christmas, but there are so many talented ladies out there who have developed new ways to use this punch. The following card was CASE’d from CAKath on Splitcoaststampers. I have had it in my file forever and thought this was a perfect add-in to an order from a customer who purchased the Ornament Punch this month.
Here is how I did it:
First, I stamped my ornament in Calypso Coral using the Delightful Decorations stamp set. I went looking through my punches to see what I could use for fins when I saw the Elegant Butterfly punch. The wings were perfect for fins after doing a little bit of trimming. I punched them from Calypso Coral card stock and attached them to my “fish”.
I added a 1/2″ Circle Punch of Whisper White, and a 1/4″ Circle Punch (now retired) of Basic Black to make my eye. I also punched a few more Whisper White circles for the bubbles at the same time. I drew the smile on with my Basic Black marker.
My card base is Pool Party, and I ran some Lucky Limeade through the Tasteful Trim die to add to the card.
The Island Indigo In Colors Designer Series Paper was added to Basic Black card stock and adhered to my card. The fish was added using Dimensionals and the bubbles added using Mini Glue Dots.
Finally I pulled out my A Round Array stamp set and stamped “You make me smile” in Island Indigo, punching it out with the 7’8″ Scallop Circle Punch and layering it on a 1″ Circle. It was attached to the card with Mini Glue Dots also.
The Tea Time Trinkets were just too cute for me to pass up. They are featured on Page 3 of the 25th Anniversary Spring Catalog. We will be using them in my April Spring Fling class also, but here is another card I designed with the trinkets.
I still think this card needs a little something more, but it’s beginning to grow on me. Here we go:
I started with a tone-on-tone color. I ran a piece of Crumb Cake card stock (CS) through the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.
I cut one of the Tea Lace Paper Doilies in half and sponged it with Crumb Cake ink to give it a more antique color. It was attached to the embossed piece.
Next I stamped the butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla CS and punched it out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. I put a Pearl Basic Jewel on the butterfly. I also punched out the Curly Label from Cherry Cobbler CS and attached my butterfly to it using Dimensionals.
Next came the Hearts a Flutter Framelits. One framelit was used with Cherry Cobbler CS and another framelit was used with the First Edition Designer Series Paper (DSP). I sponged the DSP with Cherry Cobbler using a Sponge Dauber and attached both pieces together. I then took one of the Vanilla Flower Trim flowers and dabbed it on the Cherry Cobbler ink pad to give it some color and attached it to the tag.
I took a piece of our retired natural twine and attached it to the back of my embossed piece on one side. I tied a bow from the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding and added a Vintage Button to the top. I adhered this to the card over the piece of twine.
I punched holes in my two tags using the Hand-held 1/16″ Circle Punch and threaded the butterfly tag through next on my twine. I tied a simple knot in the twine and slid my Tea Time Trinket on and tied another knot, simply to hold my trinket in place. Next the flower tag was slipped on the twine and the end of the twine was secured to the back of the embossed piece.
I finallay attached this entire piece to a Crumb Cake card base. (Tip: I really like to use my Multipurpose Liquid Glue when attaching an embossed piece to a card. It leaves the embossing portion intact and adheres very nicely.)
